Tariq’s Journey: From Rural Primary Student to Environmental Scientist

When Tariq joined our sponsorship program in 2018 at age 12, his family in the Southern District was facing severe financial hardship. High school fees were far beyond their reach, and Tariq was at high risk of leaving school at Grade 7. Through the monthly $30 sponsorship program, Tariq received direct tuition settlement, textbooks, laboratory equipment, and dedicated mentoring from his school headmaster. Over the next six years, Tariq consistently ranked at the top of his class in Chemistry and Biology. In 2024, he passed his national university entrance exams with distinction and was accepted into a Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Science. Today, Tariq mentors younger students in his village and is working on a youth-led initiative to build low-cost water filtration systems for rural communities.
